Hello everyone.
I bought a Kijima (KIJIMA, a Japanese brand) Smart Air Pump JP01 in 2022 and used it as my motorcycle tyre inflator for about four years.
In May 2026, that JP01 broke down.
But around September 2026, it started working normally again, even though I hadn't repaired it or done anything to it.
In this article, I record the symptoms when it broke, what I did, how I'd used it for four years, and how it came back to life on its own.
The short answer
- May 2026: it powered on, but the display was wrong and it kept pumping without stopping
- Disconnecting the hose and stowing it in the body switched it off
- Around September, it recovered without me doing anything. It still works normally now in October
The symptoms when it broke

The photo above shows the display when it was working normally.
The upper figure, 1.25, is the current tyre pressure, and the lower figure, 1.60, is the pressure I set.

But one day, when I pressed the power button, the display looked like the photo above.
Then it kept pumping air and wouldn't stop.
What I did
Because it kept pumping, I first disconnected the hose from the valve.
Then I detached the hose from the body and stowed it in the body, and the power went off.
Once it was off, I tried inflating again, but the same thing happened.
I also tried a different high-output charging cable, but that didn't fix it.
So at that point, I concluded that it had broken.
How I'd used it for four years
This is how I used it.
- Keeping the tyre pressures right on two motorcycles (once or twice a month)
- Adjusting the pressures at the start and end of each riding season
- Kept in the garage, even in midsummer
- When changing the tyres on two cars (spring and winter)
Car tyres hold a lot of air, so the body gets quite hot while it's pumping.
Used like this, it ran without any trouble for about four years.
What I liked and what bothered me after four years
There were three things I liked.
- I can check tyre pressure at home without going to a petrol station
- It stops automatically at the pressure I set
- It's small enough to fit in a touring bag
What bothered me is that it's fairly loud while pumping.
I feel a bit awkward using it at night in a residential area.
I wrote about my impressions when I started using the JP01 in another article (in Japanese).
Around September, it recovered without me doing anything
Around September 2026, when I tried it, it was working normally again.
I didn't send it for repair or do anything special.
I don't know why it recovered.
Now, in October 2026, it still works normally.
This is just one unit, so I can't say the same symptoms will always clear up.
Still, if you see similar symptoms, waiting a while before deciding to replace it may be one option.
Summary
- My JP01, used for about four years, broke down in May 2026 (the display was wrong and it kept pumping)
- Disconnecting the hose and stowing it in the body switched it off
- Around September, it recovered without repair, and I'm still using it
