Checking for a Loose Insulator Band on My BMW G650GS: Brown Staining at the Joint Gave It Away

Hello everyone.
Today's story: when I had the battery out of my BMW G650GS, I checked some places I don't normally see, and found that the joint between the insulator and the throttle housing was stained brown.

Under the air cleaner box of the G650GS, with the battery removed; the yellow circle marks the stained area

The stained area is inside the yellow circle in the photo above.

Brown staining where the insulator joins the throttle housing

This is the staining at the joint between the insulator and the throttle housing.
I judged that there was a gap at the joint, and when I went to tighten the insulator band screw, it turned out to be loose.

So I tightened the insulator band screw and decided to see how it went.

Screws do come loose.
Loose screws are also checked at Japan's mandatory vehicle inspection (shaken).
A loose screw on a motorcycle can lead to a fall or an accident, so regular checks matter.

In a separate article, I wrote about how the engine ran better after I tightened the band:

A Free Torque Boost? How Tightening a Loose Insulator Band Fixed My G650GS's Unsteady Idle

My BMW G650GS had an unsteady idle I couldn't explain. After I tightened its loose insulator band, the idle settled and the engine felt stronger; really, it had just gone back to normal.
