Today I'm sharing how I keep warm on the bike.
That said, I don't ride in the really cold months, so this is for temperatures around December and March.
For the cold, I wear winter jacket and trousers, plus a neck warmer and handlebar muffs.
Both feel effective for the price, so I recommend them.
The short version
- I don't ride in the coldest months, so this is for temperatures around December and March
- I switch to a winter jacket and trousers and add a neck warmer and handlebar muffs
- Even a thin neck warmer seems to stop the wind getting in at the neck
- My neck warmer has been discontinued. The successor is the Rough & Road RR5898
The neck warmer I use
This is the neck warmer I use.

It's from Rough & Road, a Japanese riding-gear brand, but it's no longer sold.
The successor model is:
Product number: RR5898
Product name: Wind Guard Multi Warmer Gokkan (extreme cold)
The successor has a longer brushed lining on the inside.
Photos of the successor and how it looks when worn are onRough & Road's RR5898 product page (in Japanese).
Judging by the maker's photos, it covers quite a lot of the face and neck.

This is the inside of mine. The brushed lining is shorter than on the successor, but it feels nice against the skin.
It looks thin and flimsy, but it does a good job of stopping the wind getting in at the neck.
Next time I'll get a balaclava type
I've used it for years and it's quite worn now, so I looked for a replacement and found plenty of options.
There are ones that cover a little below the neck, balaclavas, heated ones and so on.
Next, I'm thinking of a balaclava-type inner cap from Kaedear that covers up to the chin (I haven't used it yet).
Keeping my hands warm with handlebar muffs
I've written about keeping my hands warm with handlebar muffs here.

Motorcycle Handlebar Muffs for Winter: Fitting Rough & Road Covers to a BMW G650GS and Honda XR250 BAJA
With Rough & Road handlebar covers, mesh summer gloves were fine for me in December and late February. Fitting them to a BMW G650GS and an XR250 BAJA with hand guards, reaching the switches inside, and the downsides.
