I took the swingarm off my BMW G650GS to replace the chain, the hub dampers and the shock.
So I decided to deal with the rust on the end of the swingarm that had been bothering me for a while.

This is the very back of the swingarm.
It's where the chain tension is adjusted, and it's rusting from the end.

This is the state it was in.

First, I sanded the rusty areas with an abrasive disc on a micro polisher.

It makes sanding easy!

The rust came off nicely.

This side is mostly rust-free now too.

Before painting, degrease it with silicone remover.

Mask the swingarm and apply Mitchakuron (an adhesion primer) as a base coat.

Let it dry until it's ready for a top coat over the Mitchakuron.
After that, I finished it with black car paint.
The black on this bike is semi-matt, but I didn't want to buy paint just for this, so I used some gloss black car paint I had left over.
Silicone remover comes in handy for lots of maintenance jobs, so it's worth having one.
